Hello, I'm Sasenka.

I write about restaurants the way a best friend tells you where to eat: warmly, specifically, uncomplicated, and never dishonest.

What this site is

Honest, specific, first-person restaurant reviews. Every experience gets scored on five independent categories, each out of ten: comfort, soul, mastery, taste, and would-I-die-happy. No averages. A place can be a five on mastery and a nine on soul and still be exactly where I want to be on a Tuesday.

I care about the full experience, the room, the service, the food, how it all fits together. I can get into the finer details when they matter: texture, balance, the thing a dish does that you weren't expecting. But none of that counts for much if the place doesn't make you feel welcome.

I eat at all kinds of places, from the greasy to the fine. I don't chase tasting menus. I don't chase press. I pay for my own meals, and I tell you when I didn't.

Who I am

I'm based in Brisbane, Australia. By day I am a Strategist and I help organisations work through complex problems. By night, I eat. But this is my evening shift, and it's the one I look forward to most. I love food, and I love telling you about it.
