@longwang.brisbane is another project of @michael_tassis in Brisbane and one of those spots that hits the mark when you’re peckish and just want a line-up of bite-sized snacks to graze through.

The Beef Massaman Spring Roll set the tone and that coconut–peanut sauce was epic. Honestly, order the spring roll just for that sauce, then do yourself a favour and dunk your wontons in it too. You can thank me later.

Speaking of, the Fried Pork & Prawn Wontons were deep-fried happiness; crispy shell, tender pork inside, already good on their own but next level with that spring roll sauce.

The Beef Tartare Bite gave me a surprise tomato flavour I wasn’t expecting, intriguing if not totally convincing. The Duck Pancakes brought crunch with fried shallots and plum sauce to tie it together.

Then came the real star: Beef Dumplings. Perfectly cooked, with a broth that packed flavour and a chilli oil kick. Crucially, the inside was just as good as the soup.

To round it out, the Wok Tossed Asian Greens delivered charred bok choy edges, black vinegar bite, and fried garlic crunch. Simple, satisfying, and the veg you’ll actually want to eat.

Longwang’s strength is in the playful details; the sauces, the broth, the char. I'll be back.
