I sat at the sushi counter at the @sushi___room and got the best seat in the house, right in front of the chefs at work. There’s something special about watching that level of focus up close. Every movement is clean and deliberate with almost no wasted motion. The space matches that energy perfectly: sleek, minimalist, and modern, but not at all cold. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to dress up a bit, though the warmth of the staff quickly puts you at ease.

The service team were all lovely. Professional without being too formal, attentive without hovering. They made the whole experience feel calm and unhurried, which is exactly how sushi should be enjoyed. You can tell the pride they take in their work runs deep. Every plate that lands in front of you shows respect for Japanese technique and produce.

The toothfish was the star of the night; buttery, flaky, and perfectly cooked. Each bite just melted away. Every other dish that followed was beautifully presented and balanced, clean in flavour and execution. Still, I couldn’t help but wish for a bit more flair; something to lift it from excellent to unforgettable.

If I had to be critical, the only letdown came at the very end. If you’re booked for the last seating, brace yourself: the clean-up starts early, bins rolled out, benches wiped down. It kills the mood a little if you are seated at the sushi counter, especially when you’re still finishing your sake. It’s a small detail, but one that matters in a space this refined.

Overall, Sushi Room is an elegant, disciplined experience that still manages to feel warm. Watching the chefs at work, tasting that perfectly cooked toothfish, it’s hard not to walk out content.
