@golden.avenue.restaurant feels like you are waking into a lush Middle Eastern oasis tucked right into the heart of Brisbane. Chefs @benwilliamsonisgood and @a.wolfers have created something genuinely cool here, drawing on Middle Eastern flavours then nudging them with Australian touches that feel playful, grounded and full of soul.
The dishes respect their origins and the classics, but they bend the rules just enough to make things interesting. There is a sense of care in how they elevate familiar flavours without ever taking it too far.
Some of my favourites: The lahoh flatbread is the thing you pull apart slowly, warm and pillowy, and the Muhammarra is my pick of the dips, rich with roasted pepper and that gentle nuttiness that lingers. The Batata harra is fantastic. If you know me, you know I love myself some fried carbs. The sauce with it is a winner too. The wagyu bavette looks like a simple dish on the table, but the flavour is on point. I have had it twice now, and both times it was fantastic.
Service was warm and easy, the staff adding a bit of fun to the night without getting in the way. The whole place has a casual charm that makes you relax into the food and the space.
Golden Avenue feels like the kind of spot you come back to with friends who like to eat with enthusiasm. This blend of Middle Eastern soul and Australian character works beautifully. Another great restaurant by @anyday.hospitality.
