@lemakkitchenandbar on a Sunday full of running errands turned out to be the best decision I made all day. First time checking out their Woolloongabba spot after only knowing them from their East Brisbane days. The new location has that local Kuala Lumpur feel, the kind where you wander in off a busy street and get swept up by LED lights, colour, and a warm hello before you even sit down.
The food leans into nostalgia in the best way. Proper soulful Malaysian plates that aim to transport you, and honestly, they do. Nothing fancy, nothing trying too hard, just confident flavours that land where they should.
We went for a little carb-heavy spread. The Nasi Goreng with chicken curry was excellent. The Nasi Lemak was a reminder that a good nasi lemak will always have my heart. And the Roti Canai, warm and flaky, dipped into that fabulous curry, was comfort on a plate. Ice Kopi and Ribena on the side because Brisbane was doing its best to melt us.
A simple, soulful lunch that hit every note I needed that day.
