@stationbykotuwa in Singapore feels like stepping straight into Colombo, only with a little more polish and a lot more intention. The moment you walk in, there is this quiet wave of pride that hits you. The furniture, the design details, the staff who know their stuff inside out, it all feels familiar in the best way. Like being welcomed home, but into the version of home you wish you grew up with.
The food leans into tradition, then nudges it forward. Cashew nuts that should be a simple snack come out tasting unreal, rich and lightly spiced, almost showing off. The banana blossom cutlet is another beauty, crisp outside and soft inside, carrying that unmistakable Lankan soul. The Mutton roll itself was good, but the sauce was the real star, full of depth and heat.
Their beetroot is fresh and tangy, lifted with peppers so it does not feel heavy. The kingfish lands nicely too, clean and bright. Then comes the dish that made me do a happy dance, the chicken liver with egg roti. Soft, silky, and punched up by fried curry leaves that tie the whole thing together. A proper standout.
Moju takes a slight turn from the version I grew up with, but it works. The heat is there, sharp enough to make you smile. Then the beef cheek arrives and steals the show. Tender, deep with spice, and easily my favourite plate of the night.
Dessert was classic comfort. Chocolate biscuit pudding that took me right back, finished with a pour of arrack and a Ceylon tea because some endings are meant to feel familiar.
