@capicherestaurant is perched right on the beach, and even the short stroll from the car park gives you that instant holiday feeling. Inside, it is cosy and spacious at the same time. I landed a prime seat by the floor to ceiling windows, ordered a beautiful red and settled in.

I came in telling myself it would be a quick meal. Then the foodie in me took over and the plan went out the window. First thing to know, do not skip the bread with garlic and herb butter. That butter might be the best I have had in a long time. The bread was fluffy, warm and comforting, and when they came to clear the plate I asked them to leave the butter for my mains. No shame.

The tuna carpaccio was solid, clean and bright with a welcome kick of red chilli. The asparagus was simple and done well. Then the pasta arrived and stole the show. It was excellent, one of the best I have had in a while. The flavours were balanced, generous and exactly what you hope for when ordering pasta by the sea.

The staff kept things relaxed. Casual, warm, and clearly confident in what they were doing. It added to the whole coastal charm of the place.

I will happily come back here. Capiche feels like one of those northern NSW finds that sneaks up on you and stays in your mind long after you leave.
